Contract: One-year. 4-day work week. Employment contract if based in Berlin/Germany; freelance arrangement if based in other EU countries. Extension possible.
Remuneration: € 2.982 (Brutto) / month
Place: Fully remote. The APROPOS team operates from Berlin, Rome and Lisbon.
APROPOS is looking for a Political Communication Strategist and Community Mobiliser to strengthen our messaging towards our political audiences, and to develop and implement a strategy to mobilise the engagement of our political community, composed largely of parliamentarians, who form part of the Open European Dialogue community.
This role is for someone who is first and foremost a very strong communicator and storyteller, with a real passion for politics. The ideal candidate has experience in the development of marketing and branding campaigns with the objective to mobilise social and political actors, they are savvy in the realm of political communication and European politics, and are comfortable engaging with, developing, and drafting communication products for a political audience. They also have experience in mobilising high-level political stakeholders.
About us
At APROPOS, we design and facilitate political dialogue and collaboration spaces across ideological and other divides. We coordinate the work of the Open European Dialogue, Europe’s first cross-party platform for elected officials, and work with institutions and civil society on democratic innovation and enhancing political collaboration.
What you’ll do
Help build and empower Europe’s first and only cross-party political dialogue community. Grow our political network, lead communications with our community of policymakers (MPs, advisors, public officials), engage with high-level political stakeholders, and manage our contact database.
Design and implement communication, engagement, and mobilisation strategies for a political audience. Craft outreach messages, briefings, and tailored content that resonates with public leaders across political lines.
Shape the voice of our cross-party network. Develop compelling political narratives for our community events, and support the creation of invitations and key messaging.
Track political trends and guide our communications accordingly. Monitor political developments to help APROPOS stay timely, strategic, and to keep our communications aligned with our ambitious programme objectives.
Contribute to a bold branding and messaging evolution. Play a key role in reinventing the strategic communication of one of Europe’s most innovative democratic initiatives - now in its 10th year - and redefining how it engages and empowers its political community.
Lead media outreach and amplify our public presence. Build and manage relationships with journalists and media outlets, craft press materials, and identify strategic moments to position our political dialogue work in the public conversation.
Grow alongside a dynamic and ambitious team. As a political innovation start-up, APROPOS is evolving quickly, and so will your role. You’ll have the opportunity to shape your path as our team and goals develop.
What you'll bring to the table
Experience in strategic political communication, marketing, public affairs, or outreach, ideally in a European or international political context.
Brilliant writing skills in English (German and other EU languages are a plus).
A compelling, audacious yet diplomatic political communication style, tailored to a diverse audience of political stakeholders.
Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently.
A passion for European politics, democracy, and political dialogue.
Relevant policy, political, or civil society networks, or the motivation to build one.
Bonus: the ability to use tools like Canva to create visual content for our communication strategies.
