Place: Fully remote. APROPOS operates from Berlin and Rome.

Summary: APROPOS is recruiting an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Associate for the Open European Dialogue.

About us:  APROPOS is a non-profit, politically neutral think tank. We work in the field of democratic innovation, specialising in the development and implementation of process design methods for the political sphere. We are a collective of practitioners, researchers, and policy thinkers largely based in Berlin and Rome. We are process designers, facilitators, political dialogue conveners, and political analysts. Our working language is English.

We coordinate the  Open European Dialogue, Europe’s first dialogue platform for elected policymakers. We work primarily with members of national parliaments, as well as European and regional parliaments. Our members meet regularly, both online and in person, to participate in multilateral and thematic activities on key political challenges, such as economic governance, digital taxation, migration and border security, measures of well-being, democratic innovation, and more.

Your responsibilities:

• Support with planning the 10th Annual Dialogue (28–30 November, Milan)

• Support with planning and implementing other Open European Dialogue activities (online and in person) during the internship period

• Liaise with policymakers in 27+ European countries

• Assist with knowledge management, including political monitoring and network management

• Regularly update the Open European Dialogue’s website (WordPress) and social media channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, X/Twitter)

• Contribute to brainstorming sessions with the APROPOS team and Open European Dialogue partners

• Conduct research and analysis on EU affairs and broader geopolitical, economic, and societal trends

Requirements:

• Undergraduate or graduate student

• Intellectual curiosity and the ability to work independently as part of a remote team

• Strong communication skills

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure

• Excellent analytical and writing skills

• Knowledge of or strong interest in European politics

• Experience in political communication is an asset

• Familiarity with Airtable, Trello, WordPress, and Mailchimp is an advantage

• Fluency in English

What we offer:  

• Remuneration: €500.00 / month

• Three-month internship contract

• Possibility of future employment (in Berlin) after the internship

• Four-day workweek (32 hours)

• Home-office budget of €100.00

• A chance to learn the basics of Political Process Design and Dialogue Facilitation

• The opportunity to meet the APROPOS team at least once during the internship period (location to be confirmed). More frequently if you are based in Berlin or Rome!

Please note: We cannot provide a computer and do not have a physical office. However, if you are based in Berlin, you are welcome to join the Berlin-based team in our co-working space.
