APROPOS is honoured to continue its support to the German Development Agency’s MEG Global Programme: Shaping Development-Oriented Migration by facilitating a series of transformative dialogues dedicated to protecting and empowering migrant care workers and their families.

The first in this series took place in November 2024 in Berlin, bringing together 40 passionate participants from 23 civil society organisations representing Albania, Kosovo, Ecuador, Ghana, Colombia, Serbia, Vietnam, India, Georgia, Nepal, and Germany, alongside their respective GIZ country officers. Over the five-day “International CSO Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Dialogue: Protecting and Empowering Care Migrants and Children – From Local Action to Advocacy in International Fora,” participants exchanged insights, tackled shared challenges, and laid the groundwork for long-term collaboration.

Since then, the energy and commitment sparked in Berlin has grown into something remarkable. From November onward, participants worked on their initiatives and ideas.

Fast forward to July 2025: The 2nd International P2P Dialogue took place in Berlin from 15–17 July, and what a journey it has been!

This second edition of the Peer-to-Peer Dialogue marked a shift in focus: from joint reflection and advocacy to 'Coalitions for Impact'. Over the course of three intense and inspiring days, civil society representatives and migration experts from around the world gathered again to strengthen their collective capacity and deepen their collaborative strategies.

The agenda for the second edition reflected this evolution:

  • Collaborative analysis of global shifts in migration governance

  • Strategic coalition-building

  • Data-driven storytelling

  • Strategic communication and lobbying for impact

This second dialogue was about turning shared advocacy strategies into coalition building, offering a dynamic space for peer learning, capacity-building, and strategic alignment across global regions. Informal moments created space for trust-building and deeper community connection, while working sessions helped shape new approaches for advocacy and resilience.

Some initiatives born out of this dialogue series are already taking shape, showing what’s possible when collaboration is intentional and well-supported.

This dialogue series has been carefully designed by our process designers Isotta Ricci Bitti, Marie-Thérèse Schreiber, Davide Albeggiani and Peter Woodward. We are proud to put our Political Process Design expertise at the service of strengthening purposeful networks, amplifying crucial voices in migration and care.

This ongoing effort is made possible through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) with the support of the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ).

We’re humbled to continue walking alongside such dedicated civil society actors who are making a difference, in their countries and beyond.
